For my Senior Show I made two trees out of recycled materials. They were modeled after the Truffula Trees from The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, and were built so they grew out of garbage cans.
Not subtle, I know.
My show and the accompanying reception were a smashing success, and for a week my trees lived in the lobby of the List Art building. After the show however, I was left with a large tree that I didn’t really have room to keep, but could never trash. Instead, I recycled it again, using the batting and the fabric in the creation of a ten foot tall scroll that would become my final project for both my book-making and painting classes: the ReTree.
